Coming off Wednesday’s big win at home, the Otters hit the road for two critical matches in Virginia. Facing off with Virginia Beach United (one spot below the Otters in the table) and Lionsbridge FC (one spot above), the games hold major implications for the South Atlantic playoff race. In front of a packed out Perch, the Otters continued to play some of their best soccer at home, winning 3–2 against the first place North Carolina Fusion U-23s on Wednesday night. The Otters were able to get a goal from the usual attacking front, while also getting two goals from centerbacks. The win pushes the Otters unbeaten streak to five games and moves them closer to the playoffs as they remain in fourth place, just one spot out of the three playoff positions. The Otters stayed pushed their unbeaten streak to four, as they dropped Tobacco Road FC 3–0 on Saturday night. In front of a packed out Perch and on-field seating, the Otters used two early goals to take control of the game before adding to their lead in the second half. The Otters travelled to Holly Springs, North Carolina on Tuesday night and came away with a 1–1 draw against Wake FC. The match featured plenty of chances for both sides, but three post denials for the Otters left Danilo Seglio (Loyola Maryland) as the only goal scorer. The result leaves the Otters unbeaten in three games and moving up the USL League Two table. The Otters return home THIS SATURDAY for a pivotal match against Tobacco Road FC at 7 PM inside TVA Credit Union Ballpark!


It was a wet and rainy night, but the Otters remained unfazed as they turned a dominating performance into a 3–0 win over first place West Virginia United. Led by a goal and assist from both Agu Ortiz (Anderson) and Tom Tzabari (Duquesne), the Otters new look 3–4–3 formation allowed for them to control the game for much of the match. The Otters earned their first draw of the season after a 1–1 result Sunday afternoon at TVA Credit Union Ballpark. The Otters got on the board late in the second half after Guillermo Segovia (Florida Tech) muscled a defender off the ball and caught the keeper off his line with an inch-perfect shot into the corner. Virginia Beach were able to equalize early in the second half after an initial save from goalkeeper Mars Gohier (Florida Southern) fell to a Virginia Beach attacker. Moving to a new stadium can bring many new options for the experience and atmosphere at games. It is not uncommon for the Otters to make late-preseason, or even midseason additions to continually improve the team, and this year is no exception. The Otters have signed forwards Charlie Betts from local Milligan University and Conor Pugh from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. The first month of the season is in the books for the Otters and was capped off with a massive 5–0 win away in Cary, NC for the Otters first USL League Two win of the season. The result marks the Otters first-ever road win in the month of May as well as their second-widest margin of victory in a league game. Following three straight road games to open up the league schedule, the Otters return home to face Lionsbridge FC on June 4th at 7 PM in TVA Credit Union Ballpark!


The Otters have tabbed Kyle Findlay as the first-ever head coach of their USL Academy team. This summer marks the inaugural season for the Otters’ participation in the newly formed USL Academy. Findlay currently serves as an assistant coach with the Otters’ USL League Two side, as well as being an assistant at local Milligan University.
