After the Otters signed seven from the Sunshine State Confernece, they turn closer to home, signing four from Conference Carolinas. Three come from Lees-McRae, a program familiar to Otters fans, and the fourth comes to Johnson City from Belmont Abbey, near Charlotte, North Carolina. Both wristband and jersey season tickets are on sale! Jersey orders are due by April 17th!

Joshua Garvilla, GK, Lees-McRae

The first goalkeeper set to join the Otters this summer will be Joshua Garvilla from Lees-McRae. Located in Banner Elk, NC and the old stomping grounds of former Otters assistant Rich Wall, the Bobcats just completed their best season since Wall’s departure. A large part of that is owed to the play of Garvilla, a true freshman, goal. Starting 15 of 17 games, Garvilla made 68 saves with a 0.747 save percentage and a 1.54 goals against average. Garvilla recorded four shutouts, and despite a conference tournament quarterfinal loss, helped the Bobcats to their most wins since the 2017 season.

Fletcher Dyson, MF, Lees-McRae

Another Bobcat and another freshman, Fletcher Dyson joins the Otters after impressing in the open tryout. The English midfielder started all but one game in his freshman campaign, scoring four goals and three assists. He helped the Bobcats finish fourth in Conference Carolinas with a 7–3–1 conference record.

Daniel Garvilla, F, Lees-McRae

The final signing from the Bobcats is forward Daniel Garvilla, the twin brother of Joshua Garvilla. While his brother was keeping opponents off the score sheet, Daniel was one of the leading forwards up top. Starting in 11 of his 14 appearances, playing just under 1,000 minutes on the season. The Missouri-native tallied six goals and three assists, finishing third on the team in total points. Garvilla was also named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year and to the All-Conference Second Team. He also made the 2021 NCCSIA College Division All-State Second Team for men’s soccer.

Davis McBee, F, Belmont Abbey

From Gastonia, North Carolina, Davis McBee joins the Otters from Belmont Abbey. After finishing second on the team in total points his freshman and sophomore seasons, McBee led the charge in the fall, scoring six goals and two assists, for 14 total points, more than double the second highest contributor. McBee also led the team in shots, shots on goal, and game-winning goals. Despite an eighth place conference finish, the Crusaders were able to make a run to the conference semifinals before falling to Francis Marios. McBee was named to the Conference Carolinas Academic Team after the season.
