Otters 2022 Season Schedule Released
USL League Two has released the full league schedule for the 2022 season, and the Otters find themselves back in the Deep South Division for the first time since 2018. The ten-team division will feature five home-and-away series and one game against the remaining four teams for a total of 14 games. Exhibition matches are also expected to be added to the schedule and will be announced at a later date.
Head Coach David Strickland on the new division and schedule: “I am very excited to see more USL 2 teams in our region such as Knoxville, Asheville, Nashville, and Dalton. I am also very excited to compete against new teams in new environments and stadiums, plus to create new rivals for our fans. Having teams within an hour or two drive will create some fun away matches for local fans to go and support the Otters! I look forward to the first kickoff of 2022!”
As in years past, the month of May will see the Otters open with consecutive road games. Beginning Saturday, May 14th, the Otters will travel down to Dalton, Georgia for their first-ever meeting with the Red Wolves. Tuesday, May 17th the Otters will face One Knoxville for the first time in their inaugural season. The Otters will return to Georgia on May 21st to face East Atlanta FC. The month of May will conclude in Nashville when they face new USL League Two side Tennessee Soccer Club.
The Otters will open the month of June with their first home game of the season, facing off against long time rivals Asheville City SC for the first time as USL League Two foes. The game will take place June 1st at 7 PM inside TVA Credit Union Ballpark. In 2021, the Otters boasted a home record of 6–1–1 (W-D-L) at TVA Credit Union Ballpark, and have been 9–4–1 at home since the 2019 season with a +16 goal differential.
The following Saturday (June 4th), the Otters will make their only trip to South Carolina when they face the SC United Bantams. Beginning on June 7th, the Otters will have a three-game home stand facing One Knoxville and then Tennessee Soccer Club on Saturday, June 11th and the Bantams on Wednesday, June 15th. All games will be held inside TVA Credit Union Ballpark and begin at 7 PM. Following the home stand, the Otters will travel over the mountains to face Asheville on Friday, June 24th.
The Otters will return home and begin July with another three game home stand against Tormenta FC (Saturday, July 2nd), Southern Soccer Academy (July 6th), and Dalton Red Wolves (July 8th). The 2022 regular season will conclude on Saturday, July 16th when the Otters face familiar foe Peachtree City MOBA down in Georgia.
