Otters Add Final Signings
The start of the season is rapidly approaching and the Otters have added three more signings to round out their roster for the 2020 season. Two players hail from NAIA schools familiar to Otter Nation that have provided the team with some of the best players to ever suit up for the Otters at their respective positions. The other brings USL League Two experience as well as youth national team experience.
At right back, the Otters will be adding Joel Drewery (University of the Cumberlands). Drewery, along with former Otters Marvin van der Made and Sergio Infantes, just completed a season that saw the Patriots reach the NAIA Tournament. The English player recorded nine assists and started all 19 games for the Patriots. Drewery played with Hershey FC of the NPSL the last two summers.
Forward Aaron Whitten (Reinhardt) will be looking to bring production up top for the Otters this summer. The Eagles have previously sent the likes of Torge Wiedenroth and Taylor Gray to the Otters and Whitten will look to follow in their footsteps. Whitten just completed a phenomenal junior campaign that saw him bag 23 goals and two assists. Whitten led the Eagles in goals, points, shots, and shots on goal. Overall, the Georgia-native finished tied for second in the entire NAIA in goals per game and winning goals per game. He also finished top-five in points per game, goals, and game-winning goals. Whitten was named AAC Offensive Player of the Year, as well as being named an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and to the All-East Region Second Team by the United Soccer Coaches.
The final signing to wear the blue and green this summer will be Sebastian Rosano (Western Mass). From Uruguay, Rosano previously played with Defensor Sporting in the Uruguayan First Division. He also has experience with the Uruguay Youth National Team. Last summer, Rosano appeared in 13 games for the Western Mass Pioneers scoring nine goals and adding two assists. A brace by Rosano in the first round of the playoffs pushed the Pioneers to the Eastern Conference Final before falling to Reading United.
All signings are pending league and federation approval.
