Otters Find New Home at TVA Credit Union Ballpark
After playing their first four seasons at Kermit Tipton Stadium on the campus of Science Hill High School, the Tri-Cities FC Otters will have a new home for the 2020 season. The Otters will play their games next summer at TVA Credit Union Ballpark in downtown Johnson City. The stadium is also home to the Johnson City Cardinals who compete in rookie-level minor league baseball as part of the Appalachian League.
The stadium will be getting all new turf in the coming year which will allow for a full-size soccer field and on-field seating for the Otters most loyal fans. The Otters will play a full home slate of seven USL League Two games and more at the ballpark from May through July.
The move to TVA Credit Union Ballpark also offers group sales and events, more concession offerings, and alcohol sales at the game. The stadium will also provide a better aesthetic appearance for matches.
“Overall, I think it allows us to do more for the fans,” said GM Lucas Christiansen about the move, “I think it will help improve the gameday atmosphere as well and help us to get some people through the gate that have never been to an Otters match before.”
Cardinals GM Zac Clark says, “We couldn’t be more excited to bring the Otters to TVA Credit Union Ballpark this summer! We are always looking for new and exciting ways to engage the downtown community and this will bring a lot of excitement into the stadium this spring!”
Head Coach David Strickland said, “We are excited the work with the Johnson City Cardinals and utilize their venue to improve the fans game day experience. To be able to attend an Otters match and have a beverage and food with the family and friends is fantastic. We look forward to bringing our community together to enjoy sport and friendships.”
