Otters Return to Deep South Division for 2022 Season

With the continued expansion of USL League Two, the Otters have moved divisions with the most recent realignment. The Otters will remain in the Southern Conference but return to the Deep South Division where they last competed during the 2018 season. Featuring ten teams from across the southeast, the Otters will play the traditional 14-game schedule during the 2022 season this summer.
“We are excited to return to the Deep South this year, primarily because we will have teams within an hour of us for the first time ever,” says GM Lucas Christiansen on the move. “Having teams that close to us and fan travel to away games a real possibility now opens the door for a lot of exciting possibilities!”
The move will see the Otters pitted against teams from Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The Otters will also have their closest geographic league opponents ever with teams in Knoxville and Asheville. The group also features familiar foes Peachtree City MOBA, Tormenta FC, and the South Carolina United Bantams, whom the Otters shared a division with in their first three years of competition. Tennessee Soccer Club (Nashville, TN), Dalton Red Wolves, Southern Soccer Academy (Marietta, GA), and East Atlanta FC round out the rest of the division

In 2018 in the Deep South, the Otters went 5–7–2, at the time setting their record for most wins and points in a season, and had their first-ever road win in a 2–0 win over the Birmingham Legion. The Otters have spent the last two seasons in the South Atlantic Division facing teams in North Carolina and the Virginias. In those two years they recorded their best ever finishes, including a fourth place finish this past season and a 6–1–1- home record.
The schedule will feature home-and-away fixtures against five teams and face the other four teams one time. The full 2022 schedule will be released next week!
