Otters Set to Host First Coaching Clinic for TSSA
This weekend will mark the first coaching clinic that the Otters will host as a part of their partnership with TN Soccer. The Otters will serve as a regional host for the United States Soccer Federation’s Grassroots Coaching programs ranging from 4-v-4 all the way to full-sided, 11-v-11 programs. Sessions will be overseen by Tennessee Coaching Education Leadership. All attendees will receive an Otters notebook, and details about future events will be released once finalized.
“Hopefully sponsoring these courses will help coaches to become equipped to go back to their clubs and improve the coaching techniques within their respected clubs,” says Otters Head Coach David Strickland, who holds his USSF A License, “Investing in coaching education is the best way to improve the coaching and the future of our young players.”
This partnership comes in conjunction with the impending launch of the Otters USL Academy side in May. The Otters will cover the cost to attend of two coaches from the partner clubs that have agreed to sign on with the academy side and help improve soccer and coaching education in our region.
Sammy Giraldo, the Director of Coaching for the Tennessee State Soccer Association says, “The partnership between TSSA and Otters will bring modern coaching methodology to the Tri-Cities area. We strongly believe that education is the foundation for continued success in the development of our athletes and by partnering with Tri-Cities Otters we now have the chance to continue to impact coaches on a broader scale.”
The Otters will continue to host these clinics and other events throughout 2021. Further details will be posted on ottersoccer.com and the TSSA website as they become finalized.
