OtterSquatch Cup Returns May 25th to Johnson City

The Otters will look to retain the OtterSquatch Cup this summer when they face Appalachian FC from Boone, NC in a home-and-away series for the second straight year. The two matches will take place on May 10th (in Boone) and May 25th (in Johnson City). This is the first set of exhibitions the Otters will play in this summer. Wristband and Jersey season tickets are now on sale! Season ticket holders get access to ALL Otters home games, on-field seating, and children under 12 get in FREE with season ticket holders. “We are glad to see this competition come back this year,” says GM Lucas Christiansen on the series. “Overall we are just happy to see more teams popping around us that make things like this possible. Obviously we love getting more opportunities to play games at home in front of our fans too!”

This year, the Otters will again travel to Boone for the first leg. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex on May 10th. The return leg will be played on May 25th at 7:00 PM inside TVA Credit Union Ballpark in downtown Johnson City! Single game tickets will go on sale May 1st.

Last year marked the first time the competition was played between the Otters and their NPSL foes over the mountain. After a Danilo Seglio brace led to a dominant 3–1 win in Boone, the Otters returned to Johnson City for the home leg. They won 1–0 thanks to a Vinzent Zingel shot to claim the inaugural OtterSquatch Cup and give the Otters a win in their first-ever game inside TVA Credit Union Ballpark. The Otters went 6–1–1 at home with a +9 goal differential during the 2021 season.
