With a mostly new team leading the Otters into their next era as an organization there will still be some familiar faces in the blue and green. In addition to the four previously announced returnees, Taylor Gray will look to break more records of his own and others this summer for the Otters.

Coming into his third season in Johnson City, Gray already enters as the career leader in games with 26 and 2,079 minutes. He is the only player to have logged over 2,000 minutes in an Otters uniform.

After only finding the back of the net once in his first season, Gray returned and scored seven goals, including a five-game scoring streak during the Otters early season unbeaten streak. Gray also added one assist, leading the team in goals and shots.

Gray’s spectacular second season landed him atop many offensive categories in the Otters record books. Gray has the record for most shots in a season (32) and in a career (51). He also matched the single-game shots record twice with five against Tobacco Road in the final two games of the 2019 season. Gray is also second in career and single-season goals and points behind only Guillermo Segovia.

For his efforts, Gray was voted to the 2019 Eastern Conference Team of the Year for USL League Two, the first Otter to ever earn that accolade. He was also voted by the fans as the Otters Forward of the Year and MVP. Gray also finished second in the USL League Two vote for the best player in North America.

After his summer with the Otters, Taylor Gray returned to Reinhardt for his senior season where he finished with seven goals and seven assists. He led the team in assists while finishing second in goals, points, shots, and shots on goal to fellow Otter Aaron Whitten.

The addition of Gray brings the Otters roster to 35 players for the upcoming season from all levels of college soccer. The group represents 14 different countries: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Uruguay, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, Senegal, Ghana, Belgium, and Germany. All signings are pending league and federation approval.
